The Code of Practice for Social Care Workers sets out that as social care workers, we must "promote the independence of service users while protecting them as far as possible from danger or harm."  Amongst other things, this would include:
  • Bringing to the attention of our employer, or the appropriate authority, any resource or operational difficulties that might get in the way of the delivery of safe care.
  • Complying with our employer's health and safety policies.
Although this package focuses on how to conduct a risk assessment in the context of providing Social Care, the underlying techniques can be applied to just about any other situation where hazards are present.  In principle, there is little difference between assessing the risks of attending a Service User in their own home, and - say - assessing the risks that are present in an office environment.  So you may find the lessons that you learn here will be useful in other aspects of your job too!

This e-learning course is suitable for self paced learning, distance learning and blended learning. This is an online training course and uses high quality multimedia with audio to fully engage the user.
